Sergej MILINKOVIC-SAVIC, 23 // SS Lazio // Serbia
Even though Milinkovic-Savic does have no chance of winning the Young Player Award due to his age of 23 years, he can still become the shining talent of the World Cup 2018. The central midfielder had a great season with Lazio, such that he already attracted the attention of several major European clubs. His eye for the goal and his ability to shoot made his market value rise up to €90 million.
Savic’s vision and technical skills have made him become one of the most promising players in the Serie A. For him the World Cup is the perfect platform to prove his talent and maturity in an international competition in order of impressing interested parties like Chelsea or Manchester United.
Hirving LOZANO, 22 // PSV Eindhoven // Mexico
In the past season 2017/18, Lozano transferred from CF Pachuca to PSV Eindhoven and impressed with 19 strikes and 11 assists. The left wing’s fast forward movement and his ability to a great finish make him a valuable asset for the team. Lozano also shows great actions in the attacking midfield, acting as a secondary striker.
The World Cup is Lozano’s chance to show his skills on an international level and raise his awareness amongst top clubs. Several clubs of the Premier League have already shown their interest in the player. It remains to be seen if Lozano is able to keep up his good performance and which European top club will make a move on him.
Giovani LO CELSO, 22 // PSG // Argentina
After a very successful season with PSG Paris, the midfielder’s talent is beyond all question. Despite having a difficult start in the first part of the season, the injury of Thiago Motta gave Lo Celso the opportunity of more play time and he certainly used his chance. The 22-year-old’s impressive technique, his capability to play from deep and supply forward balls together with his great passing range secured him a regular position alongside the star-studded squad of PSG. With his flair and creativity, Lo Celso accomplished 6 strikes and 7 assists in his 48 matches and became a valuable asset for the team.
Under Sampaoli he is expected to have a regular position in the national team. Lo Celso is supposed to strengthen Argentina’s weakness of a strong midfield and to play alongside Messi to simplify his play of attack.
